We provide the legally required annual maintenance of your portable and mobile fire extinguishers and fire hose reels. Our REOB-certified technicians work according to NEN 2559 (portable extinguishers), NEN 2659 (mobile extinguishers) and NEN-EN 671-3 (hose reels), so you comply with the Working Conditions Act, the Building Decree and the requirements of your insurer.
Working fire extinguishers are essential for the safety of your employees, visitors and property. The Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet, article 3) and the Building Decree (Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving) require employers to provide sufficient, accessible and well-maintained fire extinguishing equipment. Our REOB-certified technicians perform the mandatory annual maintenance in accordance with NEN 2559 for portable extinguishers, NEN 2659 for mobile extinguishers and NEN-EN 671-3 for fire hose reels.
In addition to the annual inspection, we also carry out the 5-year extended service and 10-year overhaul or replacement of your extinguishers. During each check we clean the device, verify pressure, agent, hose, pictogram and placement. You receive a digital certificate and log book that can be presented immediately to the fire brigade, insurer or labour inspector.
We supply and maintain powder, foam, CO₂, kitchen (F-class) extinguishers and fire hose reels. Need new extinguishers or a fire plan for a new building? Frequently asked questions about fire extinguisher maintenance
How often must fire extinguishers be inspected?
According to NEN 2559, portable fire extinguishers must be inspected at least once per year by a REOB-certified maintenance company. In addition, an extended service is required every 5 years and overhaul or replacement every 10 years. AM Security & Process Monitoring provides all these inspections throughout Limburg.
Is fire extinguisher maintenance legally required?
Yes. The Working Conditions Act article 3 and the Working Conditions Decree (articles 3.7 and 3.8) require employers to provide effective fire-fighting equipment. The Building Decree sets requirements for presence and accessibility. Maintenance according to NEN 2559 is the applicable standard and is required by virtually all insurers.
What is REOB and why does it matter?
REOB stands for the Dutch Regulation for the Recognition of Small Extinguishing Equipment Maintenance Companies. Only REOB-certified companies are allowed to issue official maintenance stickers and certificates. How often must a fire hose reel be inspected?
According to NEN-EN 671-3 a fire hose reel must be inspected annually for operation, pressure, hose condition and accessibility. Every 5 years an extended pressure test of the hose is required. We are happy to combine this with the maintenance of your extinguishers in a single visit.
How many fire extinguishers do I need in my premises?
The minimum quantity is determined by NEN 4001 based on floor area, building use and present fire risks. The rule of thumb is at least 6 extinguishing units per 200 m² with a maximum walking distance of 30 metres. We provide a free fire extinguisher plan for your location in Limburg.
